When an apostille is not enough

The apostille only works between Hague Convention members. For a document going to a country that has not joined the Convention — the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Vietnam, Egypt, Taiwan and others — the older, longer process applies: the document is authenticated by the U.S. Department of State and then legalized at that country’s embassy or consulate.

Two ways we handle it

How it works

1. Confirm the destination country and whether the document is already authenticated by the Department of State.
2. Send us the document with tracking.
3. We present it to the correct embassy or consulate for legalization.
4. The legalized document returns to you or your recipient abroad with tracking.

What affects the timeline

Each embassy sets its own processing time and requirements, and some require a certified translation before they will legalize a document. We tell you what your specific destination needs up front, and can arrange translation where required.
